Fortune associate Fabian Garcia-Diaz (Executive Director of Sales & Investments of FGD Group and a former director of Miami's Master Brokers Forum) sells of the biggest building at The Golden Glades Interchange Garcia-Diaz was the listing agent
Miami, May 29, 2014 – An eyesore for the past 12 years, the biggest building at The Golden Glades Interchange, the busiest intersection in Miami-Dade County has finally closed. The property was bought in 2004 by Interstate Holding LLC, whose principle does parking management in New York. The building was originally constructed in 1972 on a 189,486 SF lot as a hotel and later converted into a hospital with 11 stories (136,190 SF), 127 rooms with enough beds to accommodate over 300 patients. It remained operational until finally closing in 2002. In 2009, a group of local businessmen had plans to renovate the hospital into an assisted living facility but the $22 million project never came to fruition. Since then it remains till this day dilapidated and windowless. The listing agent, Fabian Garcia-Diaz, Executive Director of Sales & Investments of FGD Group/Fortune International Realty and a former director of Miami's Master Brokers Forum has done the unthinkable selling what was thought to be a property that could not be sold. He explained, “The marketing was really intense and long, with more than 300 presentations, 10 negotiated contracts and thousands of inquiry phone calls”.
